Awards Dinner

The Awards Dinner takes place on Tuesday 27 February 2018, the night before Conference. More info on the night's entertainment will be released shortly, but nominations are now open for the awards.

The Awards Dinner takes place on Tuesday 27 February 2018, the night before Conference. The dinner starts with a drinks reception at 18:30, and will finish at 23:30, with a dress code of cocktail/lounge suit. Entertainment and special guests will be announced shortly, but nominations are now open for the awards.

There will be seven YST awards presented at this year’s YST Conference Dinner. All awards will be aligned to the theme of this year’s conference, ‘Sport changing lives – for good’.

The categories are:

  1. YST Outstanding Primary School
  2. YST Outstanding Secondary School
  3. YST Outstanding SEND School
    YST member schools applying or being nominated for these awards will need to demonstrate how they have used PE, school sport and/or physical activity to bring to life how the power of sport changes the lives of young people, enabling them to achieve their personal best.
  4. YST Outstanding Innovation Partner
    Partners applying or being nominated for this award will need to demonstrate how, through using PE school sport and/or physical activity, they changed the lives of young people.
  5. Youth Sport Award Outstanding Achievement (young person)
    Nominations for this award will be welcomed from schools accessing the Youth Sport Award from within the 2016/17 and 2017/18 academic years. The nominated young person must demonstrate and reflect, how through participating in the Youth Sport Award their leadership, wellbeing and achievement has developed and how this has or is inspiring them to pursue their aspirations.
  6. Campbell CARE Award (practitioner) 
    For 2018 YST would like to seek nominations of a PE or school sport network leader, who through their advocacy work at school, local and national level has used the power of sport to change the lives of young people.
  7. Beckwith CARE Award (young person)
    YST are seeking nominations for young volunteers aged 16-25 years-old who volunteer in the school sport setting. They will need to demonstrate at least two of the CARE (Creativity, Aspiration, Resilience and Empathy) traits in the nomination, connected to the leadership pathway within  school sport. Please note that for this award, four nominees will be shortlisted and invited (plus guest) to the dinner, with one winner being announced on the night and the others highly commended.

Application/Nomination Process

There will be two questions to answer within the application/nomination process:

  1. Which award are you applying or nominating for? For the Outstanding School category please indicate the theme of your application:

c. Physical Activity

d. Emotional Wellbeing

       2. Why do you think your school/nominated school deserves the award? (max 500 word statement and two minute video uploaded to Hightail)
