An introduction from Alison Oliver

by Alison Oliver, Chief Executive of the Youth Sport Trust

At the Youth Sport Trust we are proud to work in partnership with a vast range of professional organisations and individuals who share our passion and belief that sport can change the lives of young people. Within our own organisation we have a range of expertise in PE and sport that helps to drive a positive change in schools and encourages young people to lead healthy, active lifestyles.

To celebrate this work we have set up this new blog to hear from a range of experts who are involved in PE and school sport and give an insight into key developments in this sector. Our first blogpost is from Sir Steve Redgrave, which looks at the importance of alternative sports being offered within schools. In the coming months we will have contributions from headteachers, Olympic and Paralympic athletes, Young Ambassadors, leading figures in the world of sport and education, and our own Youth Sport Trust experts.

With informed opinion and an opportunity for debate, we hope this new section will provide a useful platform to share expertise and showcase best practice across a wide selection of subject areas.
