YST 2018 awards dinner - 27 February, Ricoh Arena, Coventry
At the Youth Sport Trust National Conference 2018, you will hear from an unrivalled range of speakers, teachers and trainers. Through keynote speeches, workshops and networking opportunities we will be exploring how sport, PE and physical activity can elevate young people’s aspirations, raise their attainment and improve their physical and emotional wellbeing.
Keynote speakers include Dr John Ratey, associate professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and author of Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain.
We are also delighted to announce that our closing keynote will be delivered by five-time Olympic medallist and Chair of UK Sport, Dame Katherine Grainger. Her closing address will look at the parallels between the pressure to achieve sporting success with the similar pressures to achieve exam success in schools. The sports system has recently had to renew its focus on athlete wellbeing and coach behaviours. Be inspired and take lessons from what will be a fascinating insight into how sport is balancing moral purpose and delivery in a high stakes world.
Delegates will also get to hear from new YST Chair Neil Davidson CBE.
This will be the 19th YST annual national conference. The event has a rich history of bringing together headteachers, PE practitioners, policy officials, health and national governing bodies to pioneer innovation, share best practice and deliver change.
